The free lunch

The world has gone mad.  We all wear masks on our faces.  For self protection?  No, the mask’s intent is subjugation. They fog my glasses as breath escaping its confines evanesces out to the world at large.  Surely, you didn’t think those flimsy things would stop a virus.  We are being made to obey . . . because the system under which we and  much of the world are governed under, is no longer adequate to our needs.  Here in the United States, we are at two extremes of lawlessness and tyranny.  I’ve never been a fan of capitalism.  It brings out the worst in people.  You’ve only to look at our elites for confirmation.  There’s no end to the depravity they indulge in.  Life, one’s life, surely is not about acquisition.  There’s something much more important going on.

I read comments on the news and social outlets on the internet and one of the strange things I find, especially by men, is this belief that anything given to one is never appreciated as much as if one earned it.  That’s like saying, being threatened makes you more appreciative of what you get!  There’s no such thing as a free lunch wrote Milton Friedman.  You’re wrong, Milt.  There are wonderful free lunches if you look for them.  Perhaps the idea of lunch needs to be rethought as something that should be a small pleasant break in one’s day and put effort to make it enjoyable.

Many believe that if you provide for a person’s needs, food, shelter, medical attention it will corrupt them.  I don’t believe that.  Having plentiful food, a warm and cozy nook, and the easing of stress by becoming commonplace does not lead to degeneracy.  The elites are villainous because others suffer to provide for their affluence. It sets them apart from the rest, a double-edged sword.  You can try to convince yourself that you’re better than others, but you know that’s BS.  You’ve only to look at Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden’s offspring to see that the lunch you paid for in hopes of scoring evermore manna has serious consequences.

Of all the people I have known, I would say that most would, given their needs are taken care of, after a period of indolence start establishing new norms in their life that suits them and allows them some avenue to commit to a larger whole.  People are very industrious and involve themselves in all sorts of things that don’t advance their lot in a capitalist system.  A small example.  I like to grow vegetables.  I don’t do it to save money; they are probably cheaper to buy, but the product at the market is so far below what it should be compared to what I grow that it’s well worth it.  And then there’s the benefit of interacting with Earth Mother who makes it all possible.  She creates, I create.  That’s where it’s at with human beings.  We are creative.  Who cares  about the Milt Friedman types who look always at the profit to be made in the world, too cheap to treat you to lunch unless there’s some gain?  We will survive the current madness engulfing the world because we can and we must.
