Kübler-Ross Election

The the mid-term election as seen and experienced through the Kübler-Ross grief cycle:

1. DENIAL:

It occurred to me today to wonder why, given the fact that the last presidential election was so corrupted, the GOP did not invite an outside source to monitor this one.  Why were they not fighting tooth and nail to ensure that their candidates were protected?

One wonders about such facts.  In French we call it, l'esprit de l'escalier, the spirit of the stairway.  It's the thoughts that come to mind at end of day climbing the stairs for bed, woulda, coulda, shoulda.

2. ANGER:

NO!  Something is wrong here.  Very wrong!

Human beings do not vote against their best interests, those of their family, their community.

How many people now refuse the vax?

How many people are insecure about food, resources, transportation, about Joe Biden at the helm and the looming threat of a nuclear war?

How many people are incensed that their children are being indoctrinated into a sexual, gender-neutered world where the kids are taught that they are inherently racist, or the victims of a dominant race of bigots?

How many people are concerned about the lawlessness permeating our country?

NO!  Something is wrong here, very wrong!

Do not accept this.

3. BARGAINING

Notice how the media, even before the election, started pitting DeSanctis against Trump?

Trump failed to deliver, didn't he?  Let's move on to a more presentable candidate.  This was undoubtedly the plan all along.  And it was initiated, appropriately, by the New York Times, that beacon of impartiality.

I admire greatly the work DeSanctis has done in Florida . . . but could he withstand all the abuse that Trump has endured as president and since?  He has a young family; I think they would get to him.  they would find something to control him with.

I notice that stealing elections has become more sophisticated.  They were not so foolish as to project 81 million votes for a man who couldn't speak to us without the help of a teleprompter telling him what to say.  That was crude, the message we are getting now is much more nuanced.  The very formidable and popular Kari Lake is somehow not making it; such a woman is a threat so she loses.  What about Fetterman?   How could that guy possibly win?  Strikes me that somebody's thumb is on us, grinding it in, We will appoint who we want.  It's a threat.  I think an analysis of what went down, who won who lost by how much would prove interesting.

4. DEPRESSION:

I had a dream a little while ago; my dreams can get pretty graphic when I need to get the message.  In it the old lady signals me to her room. I'm a bit wary of her, but I follow.  She presents me with a pot of face cream which she wants me to use to rub her trou d’cul, that orifice which both french and english speakers use its name on impossible people.

What is the message here?  The dream wants me to understand about the trou d’cul causing me so much trouble, and I am reacting to it by being of service to this horrible person.

There's a message for all of us here.  We're getting screwed right up the derriere; was it hubris, Roe V Wade, the media, funding?  NO!  Did millions upon millions of people who were and are so unhappy about what's happening to our country vote to give old Joe Biden another chance with all that's at stake in their personal lives?  C'mon, they rigged it.  To claim any other scenario is to grease their trou d’cul.

5. ACCEPTANCE:

It felt good today hearing Elise Stephanic endorse Trump.  He’s not backing down from making his coming announcement either.  What feels really bad is the aftermath of yet another rigged election at a moment when it is critically important to stop what's happening in our country.  One loses faith and crashes, wants to run away and not put heart in any of this.

If there is a thread running through the zeitgeist in our country it is that most people seek to be honorable, to do right, balance the scales of justice.  This is what we bring to the table.  Our rulers presently are beyond corrupt, and they despise us.  Small acts of courage become meaningful, the words spoken that resonate . . .
