Justice Thomas

Sun 7.23.23,

Clarence Thomas is my hero.  We all love our dandies who float through life encountering few stumbling blocks along the way.  And it shows, they are polished, erudite and mannered and certainly know which fork to use at the dinner table.  This is not what happened to Clarence.  I haven’t read his biography, but people tell me he has had a rough road to travel.  But he made it.

On June 29, 2023, the Supreme Court Of The United States rendered its decision in two cases.

Students For Fair Admissions, Inc.,

Petitioner

 vs.

President And Fellows Of Harvard College

On Writ Of Certiorari To The United States Court Of

Appeals For The First Circuit

Students For Fair Admissions, Inc.,

Petitioner

v.

UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA, ET AL.

On Writ Of Certiorari Before Judgment To The United

States Court Of Appeals For The Fourth Circuit

This case was surely the capstone of Thomas’ legal career.  I have read his concurring decision, 106 page, and it is rife with his rulings through the years in speaking for the rights of all Americans to be treated fairly and equally under law, citizens protected by the constitution.  Thomas has long fought for the abolishment of preferential treatment in schools and all other systems of discrimination.  One such event happened this week, when President Biden appointed a woman, one Admiral Lisa Franchetti, to lead the navy overruling the Pentagon’s recommendation of Admiral Samuel Paparo, the commander of the navy’s Pacific fleet who was next in line for the job.

I posted comment on social media about the appointment: This is bad, because like Clarence Thomas said, there will always be a doubt whether she is capable of doing the job.  And any mishap will become proof of her inappropriate appointment.  This isn’t fair to Admiral Franchetti.  She needs to be appointed on merit not her gender.

Never trust a "do-gooder."  They are using minorities and women to convince themselves and others that they are of moral character.  Just look at the liberals, who shout out racism to anyone they want to shut down, and see how racist they are in their treatment of Thomas who threatens to take away their racism tool.  They don't want to hear what he has to say on the topic.  Quite frankly, he's in a better position to speak on racism and offer wisdom gained from having experienced it first-hand than they ever will be.

Well I got an ignorant response to my comment: “Clarence "pubic hair" Thomas?”

Yes, that's a good one.  Men say these things to women.  Men talk to women about sex, they flirt, talk dirty.  The majority never cross the line.  Most woman handle this, if it bothers them, by mouthing off, some understand it as the natural reaction that some men exhibit when in the presence of a person they find desirable, and for others it is the method of dealing with a snooty bitch.  If we all took action because men talk dirty to us the country would come to a stop.  What Anita did was shameful.  To seek to deny a man an appointment to the supreme court because he made some crack about pubic hair is reprehensible.  We were not there to witness the event and under what context it occurred,  There are many ways to interpret what happened..

The court’s decision will not be implemented without a fight and it will be up to the people, those who are shortchanged by these arrangements the government uses to pit us one against another to speak up, to stop this catering to black at the expense of others, to cast away the false guilt shared for a crime none of us have committed.  Discrimination is a fact of life which we cannot stop.  But we can work through the laws to make sure of equitable justice for all.

I congratulate the students who fought for their rights.  They were lucky to have Justice Thomas at the bench.

Manhattan Seeress Cover copy.jpg

Eight o'clock Sunday morning, the police arrive at her apartment in Greenwich Village, "How long have you been living here?" The roommate Elizabeth, after having accepted her half of the deposit money and rent for their new apartment, has called the police.

New York City doesn’t open its arms to welcome her, but she’s arrived and the adventure of her life is about to unfold.  She’s come from Maine with an invitation from Sarah Lawrence College to participate in the graduate writing program.

How one becomes a seeress is what this memoir explores. Stories have been specifically selected to illustrate, from the sublime to the practical, a spiritual journey introduced in each chapter by an atout, the Tarot’s major archetypes.   From the Fool, to The World, our human journey with its risk and folly unfolds. There is also an artist here alive to her new world seeking inspiration among artists on the Lower East side, learning the ways and foods of her Chinese neighbors, falling in love.
